Our philosophy is to offer our families the highest quality learning experiences combined with a safe, secure, home-like environment in which any child may grow and develop at his/her own pace. We believe that children learn through exploring the world around them as they interact directly with their environment.

Step Up to Quality Award Winner
|
| Step Up To Quality is a voluntary Three-Star Quality Rating System was piloted in select early childhood programs licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Step Up To Quality recognizes and promotes early care and education programs that meet quality benchmarks over and above minimum health and safety licensing standards. With this program, Ohio joins Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Mexico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and the District of Columbia in implementing quality rating systems. A complete listing of states and a description of the systems is available at www.nccic.org under the topic of "tiered quality rating systems".
The steps are based on national research identifying the key benchmarks that lead to improved outcomes for children. These benchmarks include low child to staff ratios, group size, accreditation, staff education, specialized training, improved workplace characteristics and early learning standards.

Step Up to Quality Award Letter |
Melissa Lane
My goal for this center to be one of the very best in central Ohio. I have been involved in education all of my life; both my mother and grandmother were teachers. I am a native of Columbus and live here in Dublin. I have four sons ages 36 to 24, so I am used to having a lot of activity and noise around me!
I graduated from Ohio State University with a BS in early and middle childhood education, and taught 1st grade in Hilliard. When I became a busy mother, I decided to spend some time at home, and then returned to work teaching 3, 4, and 5 year olds at St. John's Early Education Center in Worthington. Later, I became the infant-toddler coordinator at Smoky Row Children's Center. Then, I directed Meadow Park Children's Center for nine years. Prior to purchasing the center, I worked as an accreditation specialist for Action for Children.
When God provided an opportunity to purchase an established center in April 2004, I was eager to put into place all that I have learned from my experiences. Here, at The Children's Center, we work to create a warm home-like Christian environment. My greatest delight is having the privilege to be a part of each child's "extended family", to watch the learning and growing, and to celebrate the milestones is truly a joy.
To reach the goal of the highest quality program I have discovered it requires:
· Hiring the very best teaching staff: personable, well-educated and tuned-in to young children.
· Providing those teachers with the needed support and resources.
· Watching children flourish.
